about
Inspired by a near-death experience, this track is a mediation on faith and mortality.
lyrics
Death is what made me remember
That I was in love with life
One day I will be a cadaver
And a medical student will cut out my tongue and my eyes
I never saw a light
No, I never heard a voice
I was cold
It was black
I was blue
There was nothing you could do
So, save your thoughts and prayers
Save them for someone who cares
Death is what made me surrender
All of tricks, the tricks of my trade
Until your heart finally stops beating
It is difficult to comprehend that we're nothing but clay
I never saw a light
No, I never heard a voice
I was cold
It was black
I was blue
There was nothing you could do
So, save your thoughts and prayers
Save them for someone who cares
Cause I don't
In a portrait
In my bedroom
In chiaroscuro light and shade
Staff in hand, he is my shepherd
But this Jesus cannot fix my legs
Thoughts and prayers are a charade
They say no to science
To evidence and experiments
But still take the medicine
And see the surgeon
Whenever they get sick
Thoughts and prayers are a charade

What an amazing album. A sad and devastating story told triumphantly. A wonderful mix of atmosphere, electronic signatures and as usual, well crafted lyrics. Another gem! Daniel Mayes

First heard this EP way back on Napster, before it was picked up by Chairkickers, and obtaining it legally was nigh impossible. For years I proselytized the good word of Kid Dakota, made friends copies, bought it as gifts, put it on mix cds, ect. Just found out this was on vinyl, as I was on graveface's bandcamp to buy something else. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Hope they release The West is the Future next. John
